39. Are You Taking Too Much Responsibility?

Many of my clients like to be in control and take on a lot of responsibility, and when I tell them that they are responsible for their thoughts, they tend to take on even more responsibility. That’s why I want to take this episode to discuss responsibility - what you are responsible for and what you’re not.

There are three common examples of too much responsibility being taken on, including but not limited to taking on other people’s feelings and problems and believing that you don’t have a good enough reason to not take something on. Listen in as I walk you through these common examples and how to solve for them.

Ask yourself what you truly want, and acknowledge that truth. That will help you make a decision about when to say yes and when to say no to taking something on. It’s so important that you always combine taking on responsibility with loving yourself. That will help ensure that you’re being responsible without taking on too much responsibility.
